P - 7089 is in Missouri but, you still may purchase it at your Local Chicken store at a reduced price and packaged differently coming soon......

I had forgotten about that! You're right, though, it began in 2011 and was fully implemented in 2015:

They basically changed it so that they could eliminate most of the USDA inspectors, and instead it's up to factory employees to decide whether the meat is bad

And this was extended to pork in 2019:

I get closer and closer to becoming a vegetarian every day

The fact that they still passed USDA inspected makes me really question the value of that...
antithesis..... Remember a few years back when our great politicians let them cut back on the inspection line. If I remember correctly it had something to do with speeding up the line for production. There was a little stink about it, but as usual, nothing ever comes of it.

Sorry, no I had the right UPC code but wrong other number. So maybe it is not around here. Has to say P 7089.,

My guess? Soak it in bleach, rinse it out, then sell it under a different label.

Nobody is throwing out $12 million worth of product...

What do they do with 8.5 million pounds of bad chicken?

Huh oh!! I didn't think they'd sold any locally

I found that "all the products subject to the recall have the number EST. P-7089 on the product bag or inside the USDA mark of inspection."

The fact that they still passed USDA inspected makes me really question the value of that...

As you might have heard, there is a recall of some of Tyson prepared chicken. You can go on the website of Food Lion and they have UPC codes of possible infected chicken with listeria. Just found I have a pack.

Note from GoNC: since this is a statewide issue, I'm expanding this thread to cover all of the GoNC sites.
